The Supreme Court of India has recently given a new look to the famous ‘Lady Justice’ statue, which has always stood for law and fairness. In the old days, as we often saw in Hindi movies, Lady Justice was shown with a blindfold over her eyes, holding scales in one hand and a sword in the other. This image symbolized how justice should be fair and unbiased, not favoring anyone, and how the law has the power to punish the guilty.

Now, in a way to say to good bye to things introduced by Britishers into Indian Legal system, the Supreme Court has redesigned this statue. The new Lady Justice no longer wears a blindfold, and now she holds the Constitution of India in her hand instead of a sword. This change is very meaningful because it shows a shift from using force and punishment to focusing on upholding the values of the Constitution. By replacing the sword with the Constitution, the statue now stands for the court’s promise to protect everyone’s rights and ensure justice is done fairly.

The open eyes of the new Lady Justice show that the judiciary is more alert and aware of what’s happening in society but if we see contrary now it can discriminate as well so far as symoblism is concerned. It furthe shows that It’s not just blindly following old rules but is looking carefully at each case to make sure justice accoding to Constitution. This change means that the legal system in India is now more focused on fairness, transparency, and protecting the rights of the people. what i failed to understand that earlier also its emphasising on the same then Why to change historic symbols?
