Surprise and shock spread as news breaks of Lawrence Bishnoi’s interview from prison row! How is this even possible? Is this a criminal mistake on the part of the police, or is there some connivance involved?”
The Special Investigating Team (SIT), tasked with probing the Lawrence Bishnoi interview from jail, submitted an affidavit before the Punjab & Haryana High Court revealing questionable conduct on the part of the involved officers. The Special Investigating Team (SIT), set up to look into the Lawrence Bishnoi interview from jail, informed the Punjab & Haryana High Court through an affidavit that some officers showed careless behavior, failed in their duties, and acted improperly.
A bench comprising Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal and Justice Lapita Banerji emphasized that Mr. Prabodh Kumar, Special Director General of Police, Punjab State Human Rights Commission and Head of the SIT, has submitted an affidavit regarding the completion of the investigation in FIR No. 1, dated 05.01.2024, registered at Police Station State Crime, Punjab SAS Nagar. The affidavit states that the police report under Section 173 Cr. P.C. (now BNSS, 2023) was filed on 09.10.2024 in the Court of JMIC, District SAS Nagar. Additionally, a detailed note was attached, highlighting the misconduct, negligence, and failure in duty by the officers involved.
In the earlier hearing, the Court raised concerns about why a Punjab Police officer assigned to the Crime Intelligence Agency (CIA), where Lawrence Bishnoi’s jail interview allegedly took place, received an extension after retirement.
Scheduling the next hearing for November 28, the Court observed that Arun Pal Singh, ADGP (Prisons), reported progress on installing V-Kavach jammers and requested additional time to submit an affidavit on this matter. The Punjab State counsel also informed the Court that they had received the self-contained note and assured that appropriate actions have been initiated against the officials found at fault.
These developments followed the findings of the Special Investigating Team (SIT) established by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, revealing that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s first interview, which “glorified crime and criminals,” occurred at the CIA premises in Kharar, Punjab, while the second interview took place in a Jaipur jail.
